All About Packing Part 2

What & Why?

Yesterday we talked about what goes into the suitcase. Deciding what you absolutely CAN NOT live without really makes you re-evaluate. If you want to be the gal with the carryon, well, there's some hard thinking to do!

Capsule Packing

This idea is the best thing I've ever heard of. Every piece has a purpose, is in the same "colour family" and can be worn with anything else in the bag. It makes life so easy but is a challenge in the beginning. I mean, after all, how many times have you packed stuff that you never ended up wearing.

I like black (and yes, I know it's not really a colour!) because it wears well, doesn't show spots and always looks good. I pack black pants, black tights, tunics to go with the tights and tops to go with the pants. No deviation into any colours that don't mix and match with the core items. Sometimes it's difficult because the thought is "Oh that's so nice and I do have room". Don't give in to temptation! If you fill your suitcase with needless pieces that you're never get worn, there's no room to shop!!

Keeping It Fresh

The biggest reason most people overpack is that they get bored with what they're wearing so how do you keep it fresh? The answer is accessories. Scarves, jewellery, sunglasses etc. A fab necklace with a couple of bangles and some funky earrings can take you from day to night with style. Add a wrap and the theatre awaits!

Packing for one week is the goal. Staying focused on what's essential is key. Keep these two things in mind and you'll be less stressed. No need to overpack as there's always laundry facilities available. Blow dryers are always provided so you don't need that. It's one less thing to go in the luggage and, as mentioned earlier, you DO want room for shopping!
