All About Packing Part 3           Here's a few extra tips and a bit of recap before we move onto the really fun stuff Take accessories. They freshen up an outfit and can totally change the look. They also don't take up much room. TIP - stick with either silver or gold. I know mixed metals are trendy but....I'm the gal who still likes my shoes and purse to match!!  We all like to pick up a couple of new pieces before we go on a trip. Do it in moderation and do the scrunch test! What's that you ask? Hold the fabric in your hand and scrunch it up. Hold the scrunch for 15 seconds. When you open your hand if the fabric appears wrinkled it's not a piece you want in your suitcase. Roll, roll, roll.....the roll vs. the fold. I'm a huge fan of rolling my clothes. For me rolling eliminates wrinkled clothing. I've been in plenty of places where there wasn't an iron in sight. The other advantage is you can fit more i...

All About Packing Part 2

What & Why? Yesterday we talked about what goes into the suitcase. Deciding what you absolutely CAN NOT  live without really makes you re-evaluate. If you want to be the gal with the carryon, well, there's some hard thinking to do! Capsule Packing This idea is the best thing I've ever heard of. I pack black pants, black tights, tunics to go with the tights and tops to go with the pants. No deviation into any colours that don't mix and match with the core items. Sometimes it's difficult because the thought is "Oh that's so nice and I do have room". Don't give i...

Will and how is it all going to fit in one suitcase? You stand back and stare at the pile. A sense of dread, panic and helplessness starts to overwhelm you.  Judging by the pile you'll definitely need a bigger suitcase - possibly two. There must be a better way! Is there? YES, THERE IS!! But what is it? With a few simple steps you can be the gal breezing through the airport with carryon only for a six week trip! Here's the mystery of packing solved. Essentials of Packing What needs to go into the suitcase that you absolutely can not live without? For me it's like this. I have to think about what part of the world I'm going to and what I'm going to be doing there. On this trip it's the UK in May. The weather will probably be much like it is at home. That means mid Spring. Not warm but not parka weather and ...
